DIY Holiday Gnome

Our Christmas tree has been up since September 1st. No joke. We absolutely LOVE the Christmas season. Did you know that studies show that people who put their tree up earlier are generally happier? If so, we must be excessively happy! Nah, not really. I think we are the normal sort of happy. But, it certainly does help seeing those beautiful bright bulbs shining through the window as we drive down the driveway after a long, frustrating day at work. Wine helps, too. And eggnog (with spiced rum shhhh). My point is, I love the holiday season and everything that comes with it.

It is around this time the crafty side of me comes out. I’m no expert, but fear not. The crafts I get into are easy peezy. This weekend I decided to tackle a simple DIY Holiday Gnome. Check it out below.

  • Felt-i used blue, red, and gray

  • Fabric for the gnome bodies-I used a cream colored cotton fabric.

  • Rice

  • String

  • Wood beads

  • Fake fur or pom pom material

  • Small bells

  • Wire

  • Scissors

  • Hot glue gun

  • Needle and thread

Step 1

Cut your fabric. The cream colored “gnome body” fabric needs to be cut into a circle. Cut your felt (gnome hat) into a triangle.

Step 2

Pour an ample amount of rice into your “gnome body.” Pull the sides up and tie together with thread or string.

Step 3

Connect the sides of your “gnome hat” with hot glue.

Step 4

Use a needle and thread to attach a bell.

Step 5

Attach the faux fur or pom pom material with a hot glue gun.

Step 6

Cut a piece of craft wire and stick it into the hat so you can shape the hat.

Step 7

Attach the gnome hat to the body with hot glue.

And in 7 quick steps you are done!

Next week I tackle a Red Ruffle Christmas Wreath.
